Croatian online shoppers trust domestic online stores more than foreign ones: nearly half of them (49.7%) most often buy from local businesses.

Thing is, trust is key

People prefer buying from businesses that feel familiar, credible, and close to home.

When a website communicates in clear, natural Croatian, it’s a sign of legitimacy and respect for local customers, which makes the risk of online shopping seem smaller.

Translations adapted to the local market help foreign brands feel more local and trustworthy.

Avoid common pitfalls of machine or low‑quality translation

How do poor translations influence user experience and buying behavior?

Divider

Loss of trust:

It makes you look unprofessional and careless, or worse, visitors could mistake you for a scammer.

Lower conversion rates:

Users are far less likely to purchase when they don’t fully understand product descriptions, FAQs, or checkout instructions.

Confusion and frustration:

Confusing or unclear translations during the buying process lead to hesitation and higher rates of cart abandonment.

You can’t just translate your content with ChatGPT and call it a day.

Robot translator

Automatic translation has indeed come a long way since the early days of Google Translate. However, some quick facts:

  • AI and machine translation tools were mostly trained on English materials (according to OpenAI, English represented 93% of GPT-3’s training data).
  • About 4.5% of all websites on the internet are in French, while just 0.2% are in Croatian (W3Techs, February 2026), which is why Croatian is considered a low-resource language. This means there is a lack of training data, and the results just can’t be as good.

I’m not saying don’t use AI at all, just be aware it’s not a magic wand.

Your communication with buyers, users, or potential clients is way too important to put it through ChatGPT and call it a day.

Working with a professional native French-to-Croatian translator ensures your message is not only correct but also natural and culturally appropriate.

French to Croatian translation pricing and rates

Every project is unique, so I’ll provide a tailored quote after reviewing your files. That said, for budgeting purposes, most projects fall within a range that’s roughly comparable to €0.10 per word.

Final pricing depends on a few key factors, such as:

Button

Discounts are possible for long-term collaborations, retainer-type agreements, or larger projects with flexible deadlines. Repetitive content is billed at a reduced rate. (In other words: the more you translate, the more you save.)

General business or lifestyle texts typically fall on the lower end of the scale. Highly specialized or technical content may require additional research and subject-matter expertise, which can affect pricing.

Urgent requests (such as same-day delivery or volumes exceeding 1,500 words per business day) may incur an additional fee.

While for some texts a straightforward translation and basic localization will be more than enough, others may require a significant amount of adaptation, rewriting, transcreation, or SEO optimization. The more creative or specialized the adaptation, the more time and expertise it requires.

If you’re unsure where your project fits, feel free to get in touch – I’m happy to advise.

New clients may be asked for an advance payment. The minimum order for small projects is €20.00.

FAQ

They’re perfect for businesses expanding into the Croatian market, eCommerce and SaaS companies targeting Croatian users, brands aiming for consistent, localized marketing communications, and any organization that wants its message understood clearly in Croatian.

Turnaround depends on the length and complexity of your content. For most straightforward texts, I can typically translate up to 1,500–2,000 words per working day. Once the translation is complete, I let it rest for a day or two so I can edit it with a fresh set of eyes before sending it back to you.

Every project is unique, so you’ll receive a tailored quote after reviewing your files. That said, for budgeting purposes, most projects fall within a range that’s roughly comparable to €0.10 per word.

Quotes are free with no strings attached – reach out using my contact form or contact me directly at [email protected]. Please attach the file you’d like translated and mention your preferred delivery date.

For marketing and localization projects, I translate from English, French and Czech exclusively into Croatian, as these types of texts should always be handled by a native speaker.

However, I do provide certified translations from Croatian into French or Czech for official use.

Of course. I use Trados Studio, a professional translation software that helps keep your terminology consistent and speeds up the process. Just to be clear, these tools aren’t the same as automatic translation – every word is still carefully translated and reviewed by me.

I’ve also worked with Phrase, memoQweb, Smartcat, Lokalise, etc., so if your team already uses a specific platform – I’m happy to adapt.
